Counselor-in-Training Program

Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program

The RecPlex Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is a hands-on training experience that gives teen campers, ages 13-15, valuable insight into the role of a camp counselor. Under the guidance of a camp director, CITs will develop decision-making and problem-solving skills by assisting with daily activities and camper care.

Requirements

  • Participation in the CIT program is by selection. Teen should contact CIT Coordinator Sheila Russell ([email protected]) and submit a 500-word essay on why they want to be a CIT. If selected, a parent/guardian pays the CIT registration fee.

  • CITs that take the Trailblazers Leadership Camp will receive a 50% discount on each week they are a CIT. Please see details below on the camp.

  • Volunteer service hours will be given to the CIT at the completion of the program.

  • Applicants must be at least 13 years old at the start of their CIT session.

  • Applicants must possess a genuine interest in recreational youth development and in working with campers, ages 3-9.

  • CITs must be willing to commit the required energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude to all aspects of the camp week.

  • CITs will participate in all camp activities and field trips and follow the Code of Conduct.
